There are many fans of the original Resident Evil games that would rather see the series stay closer to its original survival horror roots instead of branching out into more action like we've seen in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.
Hopefully, fans will get what they're looking for when Resident Evil 6 is released later this year. However, you'll be able to look forward to a new game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. During a recent interview he announced that his new studio is currently at work on a survival horror title.
In an interview with Famitsu magazine, Mikami revealed that his latest project is codenamed "Zwei" and is a survival horror game: "Mikami says that he went with this genre because he wanted to make a game that meets player expectations, and he felt that survival horror, the genre at which he's most adept, would be the most rewarding."
This title is being developed by Tango Gameworks, his studio that was acquired by Bethesda parent company Zenimax. Development started in late 2010, but is still said to be early in development. The print magazine will be running a number of images from the game and we'll keep an eye out for digital versions.
