It had already been confirmed that Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder would return for Hatchet 3, but we now know who's filling out the rest of the main cast. Derek Mears (Friday the 13th), Caroline Williams (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Sean Whalen (Laid to Rest), Diane Goldner (The Collector), and Jason Trost (The FP) have all joined the project, according to Variety.

Derek Mears will play the role of a "brooding, pompous SWAT team leader who is sent in to contain the carnage strewn about the haunted swamp", while Caroline Williams is said to be playing the role of a journalist who is an expert on Victor Crowley.

BJ McDonnell will direct the film and Adam Green will still be involved as both the writer and producer. The movie will be released sometime in 2013 and filming will begin within the next few weeks in New Orleans.

Synopsis: "The new movie continues where Hatchet 2 left off, as a search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces and Marybeth learns the secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades."
