Hide is a new horror short film inspired by true events that is set to make its world premiere at Screamfest, taking place from October 8–17 at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. We have a look at the official teaser trailer and details on the team that brought this film to life:

Written and produced by Justin Kohlas under his newly launched KimberMark banner, Hide marks the former NCIS: Los Angeles writer’s first foray into original horror filmmaking. The film is directed by Cory Pratt, a Nightmares Film Festival alum for his previous horror short Doll, who brings a unique angle to the genre by infusing his culinary background into the film’s escalating sense of dread.

The story follows Levi, a blue-collar handyman who makes the mistake of trying to rob the opulent home of one of his elite clients… only to be trapped inside when the family unexpectedly returns to host a lavish dinner party. What begins as a quick score spirals into a waking nightmare as Levi is forced to silently witness the evening unfold… and realizes he’s not the only one with something to hide.

“The culture of horror is in a really fun place right now,” says director Cory Pratt. “Lots of genres are mixing and colliding with each other in interesting ways. I really wanted to subvert the tropes of the ‘home invasion’ sub-genre and I think we made something really sick with a great atmosphere.”

Hide stars Matthew Mikita (Euphoria) and Lara Clear (Shadow Wolves), the latter of whom is currently touring the festival circuit with I Live Here Now, the feature directorial debut of Julie Pacino. Joining them are Keenan Buchanan (NCIS: Los Angeles), Adam Key (NCIS: Los Angeles), Briana Marin (The Leftovers), Liza Dean (Stumptown), Kelby Keenan (NCIS: Los Angeles), Alycia Kunkle (Claire in Motion), and introduces Sierra Rain Russotti in her on-screen debut.

The film was also produced by Keenan Buchanan, Matthew Mikita, and Willem Holzer.
