We recently covered the synopsis release for The Woman in Black: Angels of Death, which revealed that the movie would take place during World War II. It seemed like the time jump meant that the story would not include Daniel Radcliffe's character, but we may see him make a brief return.
During a screening of The Woman in Black, Bleeding Cool reports that Hammer’s CEO Simon Oakes was in attendance and the topic of Radcliffe's return came up: "There was also some teasing that Daniel Radcliffe could make an appearance in the second film. It would be a small role, by the sound of things. Plainly put, Oakes wouldn’t deny it, went as far as saying Radcliffe 'might' appear."
It was also revealed that Oakes hopes to produce a series of The Woman in Black films: "I also think with a bit of luck, The Woman in Black is sort of like the brand… we won’t count our chickens but absolutely. Plans are afoot."
For the upcoming sequel, Jon Croker was hired to write the screenplay and is said to be working with The Woman in Black author Susan Hill on the story. While the project is still in the early development stages, here is the plot synopsis:
"Seized by the government and converted into a military mental hospital during World War II, the sudden arrival of disturbed soldiers to Eel Marsh Harsh has awoken its darkest inhabitant. Eve, a beautiful young nurse, is sent to the house to care for the patients but soon realizes she must save them from more than their own demons. Despite Eve’s efforts to stop her, one by one they fall victim to the Woman in Black."
This is one of multiple horror projects in the works from Hammer, including The Quiet Ones, which just started filming, and a movie based on the Winchester Mystery House. A director has not been announced for The Woman in Black: Angels of Death at this time, but we'll report back as soon as anything becomes official.
