Now, this is some casting news we can get behind. Last month, we reported that The Last Voyage of the Demeter was being taken over by director Neil Marshall. A new report reveals that an offer has been made to Viggo Mortensen to play the lead.
The story revolves around the Demeter, the ship that carries Dracula from Transylvania to England in the original novel. During the voyage, Dracula slowly kills the crew members one by one. The original script was written by Bragi Schut (Season of the Witch) and David Slade was previously set to direct the project last year with Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace.
The casting news has not been officially confirmed, so for now we'll just consider this a likely rumor. Bloody Disgusting reports that Ben Kingsley is still attached to play the film’s Captain, while Viggo Mortensen will play the lead role of Henry Clemens. When we first heard the news, we were expecting to learn that Mortensen was set to play Dracula. Although unlikely, we're hoping that Henry Clemens is a pseudonym being used for the passenger/cargo.
