New Mortal Kombat Movies Planned?

With the success of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy live-action web series premiere and a new Mortal Kombat game hitting shelves this week, Warner Bros. is looking at the future of the franchise. If the web series continues to bring in viewers and game sales are strong, Warner Bros. hopes to turn Mortal Kombat into a full feature movie franchise:

"Now the studio hopes the edgy new series and grittier game, developed by NetherRealm Studios and led by 'Mortal Kombat'-creator and creative director Ed Boon, will eventually lead to a bigscreen adaptation and relaunch a film franchise whose last outing was New Line's cartoony 'Mortal Kombat: Annihilation' in 1997."

In the past, there have been multiple attempts at making a new series of films, including one that would focus on Scorpion and Sub Zero, but I'm assuming that any new film would be similar in tone to the web series.
