Although we knew very little about inSANE, we were excited to see what type of video game would come from the mind of Guillermo del Toro. Unfortunately, THQ's financial problems resulted in the game being canceled, but del Toro was free to take his project to a new developer. We thought it might have been the last we'd hear about the game, but del Toro recently revealed that inSANE is close to being picked up by a new developer.

Here's what del Toro had to say about the game getting picked up by a new developer (via IGN): "We were going to go to a lot of developers after THQ, but it seems like we’re going to be developing it after the first meeting we had. I can’t disclose where it was, but we went to a great developer on the first meeting and it seems that they’re picking it up because they love the package."

As for the work that went into the game so far, the focus has been on creating the world and technology: "We were two years away. The development span of a game like this is three years. We put a good year and a half into it and we have the universe quite figured out, but we are now going to take that and start doing all the leg work with coding it, creating the engine, and starting to test it. It’s going to take a good two years of modeling and rendering and creating the environments and all of that. The basic tenants of the game is that it’s created, but now we’re going to need to start actually making it."

inSANE was previously described as a a “Lovecraftian” sandbox-style video game, but nothing substantial from the game has been shown to the public yet. We're glad to hear that the game appears to have found a new home and will post an update to this story when an official announcement is made.
