*Updated with full reading and Q&A* Stephen King made a rare appearance at the University of Massachusetts Lowell last week to discuss his take on writing with students and answer questions. He also appeared before a larger crowd to discuss some of his past work and read his new story, titled Afterlife.
While Stephen King has always been popular, it seems that the release of new written works and movie adaptations have picked up speed in the last few years. In 2013, we'll be able to read his long-awaited sequel to The Shining, titled Dr. Sleep. We're also getting a crime novel, Joyland, and it looks like a couple of short stories as well.
On the movie front, a remake of Carrie will be released to theaters in March, starring Chloe Moretz. Tom Holland is also adapting The Ten O'Clock People, John Cusack is set to star in an adaptation of Cell, Scott Derrickson will direct The Breathing Method, and Peter Cornwell is directing an adaptation of Gramma, titled Mercy.
