After the release of Dead Island Riptide earlier this year, we were curious to find out what Deep Silver had planned next for the zombie series. They've just given us the first details on Dead Island: Epidemic, an upcoming "online multiplayer battle arena" being developed for the PC:

"Deep Silver today announced Dead Island: Epidemic, a new ZOMBA (Zombie Online Multiplayer Battle Arena) game set in the ever-expanding Dead Island universe. Dead Island: Epidemic will pit three teams of players against each other in a desperate fight for survival. Dead Island: Epidemic is a Free-to-Play PC title that will feature all the trademark elements that are part of a Dead Island experience."

We were told that more details will be revealed at the upcoming gamescom event that takes place later this month. They also teased that we'll find out more about the Dead Island universe "as a whole," so we're hoping for more news on a third Dead Island console title. A website has been set up at www.deadislandepidemic.com and you can sign up for their newsletter to get the latest news about Dead Island: Epidemic.
