Charlie Day from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia may be the next addition to the cast of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim. According to Variety, Charlie is negotiating for a role and would be playing a professor in the film, although no additional details have been provided.

A couple of weeks back, it was also reported that Idris Elba (Thor, The Wire) was in negotiations for a role in the film, however, this casting news has not yet been confirmed as finalized. At the moment, the only officially announced main cast member is Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), but the main cast should be finalized shortly. The movie is expected to shoot this fall with a planned release date of summer 2013.

“Set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.”
