For the next part of our live coverage of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, we have exclusive photos from the new "El Cucuy" maze. Kristian and Fernanda Hanson were invited by Universal to check out the haunted attraction for Daily Dead and here’s what Kristian had to say:
"El Cucuy is a mexican folk tale that has come to life at Halloween Horror Nights. From the onset of the maze, you are introduced to horrific images and an interesting story. To be honest, this was my favorite maze of the year due to the graphic scenes and the overall story I had never heard of before. The blood, guts and disturbing visuals is something you do not want to miss!"
On top of the exclusive photos below, we also have some video footage of the Evil Dead maze thanks to Dan McNeely from ThemeParkHD!
"In Mexico, “the boogeyman” is known as “El Cucuy,” a mythical ghost-monster touting pointed teeth and razor-sharp claws. Some believe it is an evil spirit which lurks in desolate caves and ventures into the pueblos late at night, lying in wait under beds, in closets and on rooftops in search of disobedient children. The legend began as a cautionary tale told by parents warning their children to behave or “El Cucuy” would prey on them. This generations-old myth has haunted children over the years as part of popular Hispanic folklore recited throughout Mexico, Latin America and the United States."
