Casting Update for Ouija

While originally planned as a big-budget supernatural adventure movie to be directed by McG, Universal took Ouija in a new direction early last year. Paranormal Activity/Insidious producer Jason Blum is working with Platinum Dunes on the project and it looks like the movie is getting ready to film soon. We have information on who will be making their directorial debut with Ouija, along with news of who has been cast.

Bates Motel's Olivia Cooke is said to be taking on a lead role, along with Douglas Smith. Daren Kagasoff has also been cast. According to Deadline, the story is as one would expect, with "a group of teens playing with a Ouija board, making contact with an evil spirit, and desperately trying to close the door they’ve opened before meeting their own fate."

Stiles White will be making his directorial debut with this movie and he co-wrote the script with Juliet Snowden. Previously, it was said that this movie will follow the "high-concept, low-budget" approach that is similar to Jason Blum's previous efforts. Snowden and White previously worked on Boogeyman, Knowing, and The Possession.

There are no additional details at this time, but we’ll update this story when more information becomes available.
