After years of waiting, The Cabin in the Woods finally has a release date. It may not be the rumored October 2011 horror fans were hoping for, but Deadline is reporting that it will be released on April 13, 2012.

Originally set to be released back in 2009, this film has been on hold due to MGM's financial troubles. Fans were worried that this film would never see the light of day, but Lionsgate recently picked up the film for distribution and it probably helped that Thor's Chris Hemsworth is in the movie.

The Cabin in the Woods is directed by Drew Goddard, written by Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon, and stars Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, and Brian White.
