Miramax was sold off by Disney earlier this month, and its new owners quickly reached a deal (announced today) with The Weinstein Company for sequels to Miramax catalog films and Blu-ray releases for for many of the films that were held up due to the sale. Also announced, were possible sequel plans for From Dusk Till Dawn and The Ammityville Horror:
"The other potential sequels and TV projects are Bridget Jones’s Diary, Copland, From Dusk Till Dawn, Swingers, Clerks, Shall We Dance, and The Amityville Horror. This partnership augments an existing relationship between the companies on such franchises as Scream 4 (to be released April 15, 2011), Spy Kids 4 (to be released August 19, 2011) and Scary Movie 5."
Both of these announcements are good to hear, as most of the Tarantino films have been held up on Blu-ray due to the sale of Miramax. I know chances are probably slim, but I'd like like to see another From Dusk Till Dawn film that isn't just a direct to video effort. In the mean time, we'll have the Blu-ray release to look forward to hopefully sometime in 2011.
