Fans looking for a better quality HD transfer of Evil Dead 2 and new special features may get their wish this November. According a recent report, Lionsgate is working on a new special edition to celebrate the film's 25th anniversary:

"Listen up you primitive screwheads! A very brief blurb here for you EVIL DEAD fanatics: Lionsgate Home Entertainment is planning a NOVEMBER 15th release for the new EVIL DEAD II: DEAD BY DAWN Blu-ray, a 25th Anniversary Special Edition. Pretty cool, right?

Unfortunately, there are no details on the special features just yet, but word has it that new commentaries have been recorded and the transfer will be a significant upgrade from the original Anchor Bay Blu-ray of the title."

Lionsgate is working with Sam Raimi and Ghost House Pictures on the recently announced Evil Dead remake, so it makes sense that they would pick up rights to the older films. Anchor Bay previously released both Blu-ray and DVD editions of The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2.
