AMC has made a number of announcements regarding the structure of The Walking Dead's second season release schedule, which includes a 90-minute premiere. The 13 episode second season will kick off with a 90-minute premiere episode on Sunday, October 16th at 9PM.

The show will then resume its normal one-hour format, with each episode showing on Sunday night. After episode 7, there will be a season break, with the last 6 episodes starting up again on Sunday, February 12th.

If you need to catch up on the first season, it is currently available on Blu-ray and DVD. A special edition version of season 1 is also due out on DVD and Blu-ray on October 4th, and includes a black & white version of the pilot episode, commentary for every episode, and more bonus features.
