The first season of Bates Motel was well received and the first episodes had enough viewers for A&E to greenlight a second season right away. Bates Motel Season 2 will begin production later this year and we have new details on where the story is headed.

Executive Producer Carlton Cuse told TV Guide that we'll be meeting more members of the Bates family next season: "We would be remiss if we didn't meet some other members of the Bates family... I don't want to say who, but we are definitely going to learn about their family tree, which has more twisty branches."

Nestor Carbonell hints that we'll be learning more about Dylan's father: "the big question mark is Dylan's dad... There's certainly a story to be told there."

While Norma couldn't catch a break this season, it sounds like things will be getting better for her, according to Vera Farmiga: "Norma will find romance next year with someone we haven't yet met... She sure needs it. Her neediness gives her an urgent desire to touch and kiss Norman, and that need should probably be filled by someone other than her son."

The second season of Bates Motel should air early in 2014 and we'll have more details when filming begins later this year.
