Brian Hillard is known for his work with KNB EFX and playing the iconic well walker in The Walking Dead Season 2. It has now been announced that he's working on creating his own horror series, which puts a more sci-fi and Lovecraftian spin on the traditional zombie tale.

Titled Beyond DOOMSDAY: The Chronicles of Captain Z, the story follows Ex-Army Captain who trains people on how to defend themselves after a virus turns most of the population into zombie-like creatures. Work is expected to begin early next month on the pilot episode and here's an idea of what you can expect from the story:

"In the year 2017, a virus that no one can identify or explain has overrun our world. There are scientific theories about what has happened, but it is all guesswork and assumptions at this point. Religious fanatics say that we had it coming, and to become saved was the only way to survive these dark days – they were wrong, dead wrong.

97% of the Earth’s human population has been decimated! All of the recent human dead, now an army of pure, motorized aggression. The blitzkrieg incursion has significantly hindered the effectiveness of all energy and communication systems. The people who once maintained the power facilities and communication companies have either fallen to the Undead or have left their posts in haste; each person doing what they can to keep themselves and their families alive.

Food, water, weapons and other valuable resources have become extremely hard to come by as the remaining pockets of human survivors struggle to hold on. They are tired, scared, hungry and ultimately unsure of what a possible future may hold.

There has been talk that the cause of the infection was some kind of Hyper Terrestrial contagion; an attack our planet by some type of unseen alien life form. But again, everything is speculation and presumption; and at this point, is it even relevant that the true cause of the epidemic be found?

The opening salvo of the invasion swept the entire planet in just over two weeks. A plague that, at first observation, had caused the recent dead to rise and attack the living.

No matter how well prepared our government and the military felt they were, the seemingly self-aware, symbiotic virus quickly overwhelmed EVERYTHING, leaving our world all but extinct of human life.

In the end, it came down to one thing, one tragic, horrible thing. Can one do what it takes in order to survive - eradicate those who were once your loved ones, your neighbors, friends . . . your family?"
