Since early this year, gamers have been able to navigate the horrors of the Baker residence while playing as Ethan in Resident Evil 7, and they've also been able to look forward to a free DLC called Not a Hero. Originally slated to come out this spring, Not a Hero has now been delayed by Capcom, but for a good reason.

In a new video released by Capcom, Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masachika Kawata reveal that Not a Hero is being delayed because the free DLC is not ready to meet the high standards set by the main story in Resident Evil 7, which has received a largely positive reception.

"...in light of the incredible reception to the release of Resident Evil 7, we concluded that this DLC was not good enough to meet those high expectations," Nakanishi says in the video.

Kawata adds, "Our aim is for this content to match the high quality of the main game, so we need more development time to in order to achieve that goal.

Resident Evil 7 executive producer Jun Takeuchi also appeared on screen, adding, "We are also working on a further piece of DLC at the moment, and we wish to deliver both of these to you and up to the standard you expect from Resident Evil 7."

While release dates for either DLC have yet to be announced, fans can rest assured that Not a Hero, which will feature a different storyline that is separate from Ethan's adventure in the main game, will still be a free download.
