If you watch Riverdale (and if you don't, I highly recommend that you do), then you know that showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (who is also the showrunner of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) instills the series with homages to some of the most memorable horror movies of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. After blood was spilled in the Carrie musical episode in the second season, the show must go on at Riverdale High in the school's latest musical, Heathers, and we have a look at preview videos and a poster for the special episode ahead of its premiere.

Titled "Big Fun," the Heathers episode of Riverdale fittingly airs tonight at 8:00pm EST on The CW, just a few days before Michael Lehmann's iconic film (written by Daniel Waters) celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The show's latest musical episode is directed by Maggie Kiley from a teleplay by Tessa Williams, and it features Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) as the three Heathers, with Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) as Veronica and Sweet Pea (Jordan Connor) as J.D.

In addition to paying tribute to Heathers, this next episode will have a creepy cult presence, as The Farm looks to expand its ranks with the help of Evelyn Evernever (Zoé De Grand Maison), who is co-directing the Heathers musical with Kevin Keller (Casey Cott).

"Based on the characters from the Archie Comics, Riverdale is a bold and subversive take on the wholesome town of Riverdale and some of its teen residents, including Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead as they discover the darkness and dangers that bubble underneath their town’s wholesome facade."
