It’s no April Fools' joke, dear readers! This Friday, April 1st, Daily Dead is bringing back our Indie Horror Month celebration for 2022, and throughout the month of April, we’ll once again be shining the spotlight on all types of independently produced horror content from the realms of film, literature, and art (and there may be a few projects that don’t quite fit those categories exactly, too). Last year, I decided to resurrect my indie horror initiative after realizing that even though indie horror in all its forms was being talked about more these days than it was years ago, we still could be doing more for all these creators out there who are endlessly toiling away and often putting themselves on the line (creatively speaking) to keep us genre lovers entertained in all kinds of capacities.

I wanted to go ahead and announce our plans early because celebrating independent filmmakers, writers, and artists is something that has been hugely important to me throughout my entire career, so I wanted to make sure that IHM 2022 is something you’ll keep on your radar in the coming weeks. And look, I know there are far more important things in the world going on these days, but I do hope that in some way, Indie Horror Month can serve as a fun celebration of the maverick spirit of creativity and a reminder that great horror can come from a variety of places and it all deserves to be appreciated in some way, shape, or form.

Throughout April, we’ll be featuring a ton of indie-themed content right here on Daily Dead, including interviews, retrospectives, podcast episodes, and some other fun articles that you’ll definitely want to check out if you’re a genre fan. In the meantime, before Indie Horror Month 2022 kicks off on Friday, I highly recommend catching up with all of our IHM coverage from last year (you can find it by clicking HERE), as we were thrilled and proud to be able to celebrate so many different creative voices throughout our 2021 celebration.

Viva Independent Horror!
