Thanks to Sideshow Collectibles' Court of the Dead line, we'll never look at death the same way. What began with amazingly detailed figures and statues has expanded into other expansive collectibles that only add to the intriguing backstories and eclectic characters of Court of the Dead, and Sideshow shows no signs of stopping anytime soon, as they gave us the first looks at some of their upcoming releases that we're excited to share with Daily Dead readers.

When we visited with the Sideshow Collectibles team on the San Diego Comic-Con show floor, we caught up with Tom Gilliland, Creative Director of Court of the Dead, who showed us the first look at the packaging for the upcoming tabletop game Court of the Dead: Underworld Rising (see photo below). A collaboration with USAopoly's Project Raygun, Underworld Rising allows gamers to immerse themselves in the macabre world of Court of the Dead like never before. As Gilliland explains:

"The game focuses on the peddling of influence within the Court, within the three factions—Bone, Spirit, Flesh—the united portion of the Underworld, as they vie for supremacy within their own ideologies. In the game, you are a new soul-born operative, or Mourner, in the Underworld. You had a life of influence in the mortal realm, and now you're trying to apply your ability to be influential in the Underworld in the most productive way possible for the Underworld and its united notion. Each character will have a secret objective that serves their angle of what their ambition in the Underworld is going to be."

On your quest to win in Underworld Rising, players can interact and collaborate with both each other and key characters from the Court of the Dead universe:

"The game has a neat collaborative interaction with the other players. You can trade influence to trigger different characters that you may have. In the game, you'll see all of the major Court of the Dead fixtures: Queen Gethsemoni, Xiall, and all of the general-type characters like Kier and Demithyle, the Reaper General. You will use them as the influencers within your spectrum. You get the chance to have the characters from the Premium Format Figures on your team one turn to the next, and as each turn evolves, the characters that are in your sphere of influence migrate around the table. So, while you may have the Alltaker's blessing on one turn, that may shift on the next one to someone else."

In addition to Underworld Rising, which is slated for a late 2018 release, Tom also gave us a look at the Court of the Dead poker card set that features different shades of the Underworld characters on the face cards. Due out this November, you can get a first look at the incredibly detailed card deck in our photos below. If you prefer puzzles to card games, then you're also in luck, because Sideshow also has two Court of the Dead puzzles coming out this fall, one featuring Death's Siren and another showing the Alltaker himself as he peers into a pool of water to gaze at his destructive nature.
