For our foreign horror film fans, Synapse films has sent us a press release announcing a DVD/Blu release for the Brazilian horror film Embodiment of Evil. Originally released in 2008, this is the third film in a trilogy that started with Take Your Soul (1963) and This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse (1967):

"After serving a 40-year prison term for the crimes he committed in At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul and This Night I Will Possess Your Corpse, Coffin Joe is finally released from the mental health wing of the São Paulo State Penitentiary and back into society.  The sadistic undertaker quickly returns to fulfilling the goal which sent him to jail in the first place: finding the perfect woman to continue his bloodline and bear him a son.  Accompanied by his faithful servant, the humpbacked Bruno, Coffin Joe cuts a trail of horror with some happily devoting themselves to him, while many more are brutally tortured and murdered, while the police, with the help of a masochistic priest (Milhem Cortaz), dedicate themselves to bringing Joe to justice."

The DVD/Blu combo pack will be available on February 8th. For more information, please visit the official Synapse Films website.
