"What lurks in the shadows? Terrible, broken things that writhe in the space between worlds… and they’re after one person, Shane Beck."
Available April 30th from GlobalComix is Betweeners, "a supernatural horror story drenched in crime, redemption, and dark humor." The new horror graphic novel comes from writer Adam Carter and artist Armin Ozdic, with colors by Gui Sabino, and letters by Héctor Negrete. We're excited to share the first details with Daily Dead readers, along with a preview you can read right now.
Betweeners tackles the exorcism genre with a "terrifying twist: this time, the exorcist is the one who’s possessed."
Exorcist Shane Beck has a secret: He’s not really Shane Beck. His body is possessed by the soul of Mike Baxter, a grifter who died in the 1980s and spent decades suffering in Hell—until he found a way out. Now, using Beck’s body, Baxter performs exorcisms while staying one step ahead of the demons that hunt him. But when Beck’s estranged son, James, shows up desperate for help, Baxter finds himself in an unfamiliar role: pretending to be a father.
When an elite agent from hell tracks them down, Baxter and James are forced into a deadly fight for survival. The battle that follows will push Baxter to his limits, forcing him to face the question he’s been avoiding: Can redemption be earned? Or is he doomed to the fate he tried to outrun?
Adam Carter commented on the upcoming graphic novel:
“Betweeners started with a relatively simple idea: what would happen if an exorcist was possessed? But not by a demon, by the soul of a human—someone flawed, someone lost, someone desperately seeking a second chance in life. And what if that lost soul didn’t land in a priest, but instead possessed someone equally as flawed? Then you get a story that is, at its core, a family drama about a man on the run… and all that stands between him and his second chance is the hordes of Hell. No pressure or anything.”
Betweeners will be available on both GlobalComix and Amazon Kindle starting on April 30th.
