Before he pitted the God of Thunder against the Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, director/actor Taika Waititi (along with Jemaine Clement) introduced viewers to four vampire roommates in the mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, and if you've been craving the blood-soaked humor of that horror comedy since its release in 2014, then you may be pleased to know that FX has ordered a pilot episode based on the film.

Multiple outlets, including THR, revealed the news that FX has ordered pilot episode for a potential What We Do in the Shadows series, based on the movie of the same name that features vampires living in a New Zealand flat and documentary filmmakers following their every bloodthirsty—and hilarious—move.

While they haven't been announced to reprise their vampiric roles in front of the camera, What We Do in the Shadows writers/directors Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi will return behind the lens, with the former writing the pilot episode and the latter directing it. Both filmmakers will also executive produce the series with Scott Rudin, Paul Simms, Garrett Basch, and Eli Bush. According to THR, the cast for the pilot episode will include Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillen.

We'll have to wait and see how FX reacts to the pilot episode before What We Do in the Shadows can become a full-on TV series, but we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further details. In addition to this pilot episode, two potential spinoff series based on What We Do in the Shadows are also in the works, one focused on the werewolves (not "swear wolves") the vampires encounter one night in town, and the other (tentatively titled Wellington Paranormal) based on the comedic cop characters Karen and Mike.

We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on all projects pertaining to What We Do in the Shadows, and for those unfamiliar with the movie, we included its official synopsis and trailer below. Would you like to see a What We Do in the Shadows TV series?

Synopsis: "Viago, Deacon, and Vladislav are vampires who are finding that modern life has them struggling with the mundane—like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs, and overcoming roommate conflicts."
