It was announced today that George A. Romero, the legendary filmmaker and godfather of the modern zombie, will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of a Class of 2017 that also includes Chris Pratt, Amy Adams, and Ryan Reynolds.

The date for Romero's star ceremony has not been revealed yet, but we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on future announcements. In the meantime, we have the official press release with full details, as well as a video (via Variety) of the Class of 2017 announcements:

Press Release: HOLLYWOOD, CA. June 28, 2016 —A new group of entertainment professionals in Motion Pictures, Television, Live Theatre, Radio and Recording have been selected to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it was announced today,  Tuesday, June 28, 2016 by the Walk of Fame Selection Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. These honorees were chosen from among hundreds of nominations to the committee at a meeting held in June and ratified by the Hollywood Chamber’s Board of Directors. Television Producer and Walk of Famer Vin Di Bona, Chair of the Walk of Fame Selection Committee for 2016-2017, announced the new honorees alongside Leron Gubler, President/CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.  The new selections were revealed to the world via live stream exclusively on the official website www.walkoffame.com. The live stream began at 11:15 a.m. PDT prior to the star ceremony of gospel singer Shirley Caesar. The press announcement and ceremony were held at 6126 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Fonda Theatre.

"The Walk of Fame Selection Committee is thrilled to announce our newest honorees to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Committee looked carefully at each nominee and we feel that we have selected a great group of talent that will appeal to the tastes of many fans around the world,” stated Di Bona. “As a Walk of Famer myself, I know these honorees will look back at the day of their ceremony and remember it with fond memories shared with family and friends, and of course, the fans. We look forward to their big day as the Walk of Fame Class of 2017 become part of Hollywood history on this famous Walk,” he added.

Amy Adams, Jason Bateman, Goldie Hawn, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Pratt, Brett Ratner, Ryan Reynolds, George A. Romero, Mark Ruffalo and Rita Wilson

In the category of TELEVISION:
Tyra Banks, Andre Braugher, Ken Corday, Lee Daniels, Hugh Laurie, Eva Longoria, Wolfgang Puck, Keri Russell, Haim Saban, George Segal, Sarah Silverman and Jeffrey Tambor

In the category of RECORDING:
Clarence Avant, Jerry Goldsmith (posthumous), Hall & Oates, Ice Cube, John Legend, *NSYNC, New Edition and Selena Quintanilla (posthumous)

In the category of RADIO:
Elvis Duran

In the category of LIVE THEATRE/LIVE PERFORMANCE:
Criss Angel, Jeff Dunham and Gustavo Dudamel

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and its Walk of Fame Selection Committee congratulate all the honorees. Dates have not been scheduled for these star ceremonies. Recipients have two years to schedule star ceremonies from the date of selection before they expire. Upcoming star ceremonies are normally announced ten days prior to dedication on the official website www.walkoffame.com.
