It has been revealed that Gillian Anderson is the latest addition to the cast of Hannibal and will appear for a multi-episode arc. According to EW, Anderson will play the role of Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, who has the fun job of being Dr. Hannibal Lecter's therapist. There are no more details on how many episode she appears in, but as this sounds like more of a guest role, we're not sure she's making it out alive.

Hannibal stars Casino Royale‘s Mad Mikkelsen as the infamous cannibal, along with Hugh Dancy as Agent Will Graham, and Laurence Fishburne as Agent Jack Crawford, who is in charge of the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI and will eventually be responsible for tracking down Hannibal Lecter. Other actors who will be appearing on the show include Eddie Izzard, Gina Torres, Molly Shannon, Ellen Greene and Chelan Simmons.

"Will Graham is a gifted criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI. Graham's unique way of thinking gives him the astonishing ability to empathize with anyone - even psychopaths. He seems to know what makes them tick. But when the mind of the twisted killer he's pursuing is too complicated for even Will to comprehend, he enlists the help of Dr. Lecter, one of the premier psychiatric minds in the country. Armed with the uncanny expertise of the brilliant doctor, Will and Hannibal (known as a serial killer only to the audience) form a brilliant partnership and it seems there's no villain they can't catch. If Will only knew..."

The series has skipped the usual pilot process and NBC has ordered 13 episodes for the first season, with a planned premiere early next year. If you’d like to see the first photos from Hannibal, visit our recent coverage at: http://dailydead.com/first-photos-from-hannibal-tv-series/
