After Godzilla's massive opening weekend, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures aren't wasting any time moving forward with sequel plans. According to Deadline, it has been confirmed that the sequel has already received the green light. There's no other information at this time, but we think it's likely that Warner and Legendary are pushing for Gareth Edwards to return to the director's chair.

As for the direction they'll take the sequel, the way the latest movie handled Godzilla allows him to return to stop anything from a giant moth to an alien invasion and Ghidorah. Would you like to see the same human characters show up in the Godzilla sequel? What monster or monsters would you like to see Godzilla fight? Let us know in the comments area below.

We'll keep Daily Dead readers posted on any developments and wouldn't be surprised to have more information who's involved on the sequel by Comic-Con in July.
