On Saturday, October 29th, 2016, the prestigious ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVES in NYC will celebrate two seminal films of the European Gothic New Wave, DEMONS and DEMONS 2, produced by notorious auteur Dario Argento and directed by Lamberto Bava, son of legendary director and cinematographer Mario Bava, by screening both movies within its hallowed space.
Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni, star of DEMONS 2, will make a personal appearance and present the screening at 7 pm.
Cataldi-Tassoni, a native New Yorker, is an award-winning actress and multimedia artist, with a devoted international fan following thanks to her performances in seminal European movies (Opera, Mother Of Tears, The Dirt, Phantom Of The Opera) with renowned European directors such as illustrious filmmakers Dario Argento, Pupi Avati and Luciano Odorisio. She has performed alongside such screen luminaries as the late Oscar nominee Pete Postlethwaite (The Usual Suspects) and John Hannah (The Mummy, Sliding Doors, Spartacus).
Cataldi-Tassoni has just won an Award of Excellence in the category of Actress: Leading, at the Best Shorts Competition, for her gut-wrenchingly emotional performance as Lady Macbeth in LADY M 5.1, a short film directed by award-winning director and multimedia artist Mariano Baino. The film is a surreal adaptation of Macbeth, Scene 5, Act 1, with a Science Fiction slant.
Baino and Cataldi-Tassoni also co-wrote ASTRID'S SAINTS, a new feature film set to be filmed in Italy, directed by Baino and starring Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni in the role of Astrid.
"I was born in NYC and it is such a great feeling to know that the work I did when I was living in Italy is now being appreciated here in the USA. I would have never imagined, when I was filming DEMONS 2, that, years later, it would be screened in such prestigious cultural venues such as the Museum of Arts and Design and now the Anthology Film Archives. And in NYC, my hometown and birthplace, which makes the screening even more significant!"
ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVES, located at 32 2nd Ave, New York, NY, "is an international center for the preservation, study, and exhibition of film and video, with a particular focus on independent, experimental, and avant-garde cinema. In the decades since its founding, Anthology has grown far beyond its original concept to encompass film and video preservation, the formation of a reference library containing the world's largest collection of books, periodicals, stills, and other paper materials related to avant-garde cinema; and a remarkably innovative and eclectic film exhibition program. Anthology screens more than 900 programs annually, preserves an average of 25 films per year (with 900 works preserved to date), publishes books and DVD's and hosts scholars and researchers."
