Hailing from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, game development company Caustic Reality (started by Clinton McCleary) has developed their very first horror game called Infliction. This first-person game asks players to enter a seemingly innocuous suburban home, where nothing is as it seems. Also in today's Highlights: release details for The Prodigy, Tales of Fear, Pop, and Haunted Live! on the Travel Channel.

Infliction Game Release Details: "Sydney, Australia — Caustic Reality, the one-man game studio founded by Sydney developer Clinton McCleary, is proud to announce the release of his debut game Infliction, just in time for Halloween. McCleary developed almost the entire game as a solo project, acting as a designer, programmer, artist, animator, and sound engineer. Infliction is a first-person psychological horror game, drawing players into an average suburban home that has been twisted into a surreal, nightmare world. Through environmental storytelling, players search an eerie deserted house by piecing together the story from letters, phone messages, and journals - all while being stalked by a murderous entity. Unlike most horror games, Infliction generates its scares by tapping into feelings of loss, regret, grief, and personal betrayal. Players take on the role of a struggling husband, with gameplay exploring the dark secrets of a fractured home. Players will wander through the heartbreaking remnants of a once-happy family, piecing together clues and trying to atone for past sins. Players can choose to hide or confront the malevolent being that haunts them and experiment with clues and puzzles to unfurl the dark story within. Since the launch of its successful Kickstarter in July this year, Let’s Plays and streams of the Infliction demo has collected over 4 million views across Youtube and streaming platforms. The developer has focused on polishing animation, audio, narrative and AI features in the game in preparation for its full release today, delivering scares in time for Halloween. Infliction has also been selected for the coveted PAX Australia Indie Showcase and will be available to go hands-on from October 26th to October 28th during Melbourne International Games Week. Infliction is available now via Steam for $19.99USD, with a launch discount of XX% off for a limited time.

Infliction’s creator Clinton McCleary commented: “It’s been a long journey to get Infliction to where it is today. The story is a very personal one, full of fears that sparked when I became a father for the first time. I wanted to bring a true feeling of unease and gradual horror to the game, inspired by the level of detail and sense of place felt in titles like Gone Home. Infliction touches on many intense issues and focuses on creating personal tension, so I look forward to seeing more players experience the dark world that has been crafted here.”

Caustic Reality is an independent game studio made up of just one game developer, Clinton McCleary, a 38-year-old from Sydney, Australia, where he lives with his wife and daughter. McCleary has over seven years experience as a designer in the serious games and corporate education sector. He is a graduate from the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, with an advanced diploma of game development that specializes in game art. Infliction is his first video game, developed almost entirely as a solo project."

Tales of Fear Amazon Release Details and Trailer: "Tales of Fear is a six-part horror anthology in the style of the EC comics of the 1950’s. Ghastly ghouls, monstrous creatures, and murderous madmen await in these tales guaranteed to leave you filled with fright. The film was shot in and around the St. Louis area utilizing local actors and crew. After screening around the world and winning several awards the movie is now available on Amazon.

Tales of Fear is the latest project from State of Mind Productions, previously known for Contamination: A Convention Story (2012) and Zombie Epidemic (2009). The film is directed by Corey Logsdon, a native of Alton Illinois. The project was ambitious from the beginning. Shot over a two year period, the crew made use of every asset at their disposal to give the production more value.

During location scouting, the crew sought out locations with haunted histories. This added to the atmosphere of the film. Alton, IL has a history of being one of the most haunted towns in America. The director took advantage of the rich history at his disposal. Locations included The Milton Schoolhouse, Lovejoy Cemetery, Second Hand Reading, and Principia College to name a few. Needless to say, there were some unusual occurrences during filming.

Ghosts and the paranormal are a common motif in horror films. The production was plagued with malfunctioning equipment, mysterious noises, and missing items. In many cases, the acting on screen was genuine fear due to the unusual nature of the locations. The cast and crew persisted through these unexplained events until the film was completed.

After debuting at The Bram Stoker International Film Festival in Whitby England the film went on to screen at festivals around the globe, winning various awards. Feedback from audiences has been positive. The film struck a chord with fans of classic horror films. Tales of Fear is currently on Amazon Video, just in time for Halloween.

New Haunted Live! Episode Details: "Haunted Live “10-19-18” – Premieres Friday, October 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The Tennessee Wraith Chasers investigate Nashville’s Two Rivers Mansion. Built by David H. McGavock in 1859, the mansion was once the center of a 1,100-acre plantation and home to the McGavock family for three generations. The remains of nearly 100 Native Americans were found during its construction, but they were never returned to rest. Instead, the owner decorated the property fence with their skulls and the children used the burial war clubs as toys. Today, people visiting the mansion feel an immediate presence and the phantom sounds of footsteps are common. The female apparition of Lula McGavock wanders the grand halls. Her baby died of a mysterious illness at a young age and she died shortly after. The neighboring 1802 house, where the family lived during construction of the mansion, houses a dark energy that has been known to bring people to tears. Could this be the disturbed spirits of the unearthed Native Americans and is this dark energy the reason why Lula seems to be trapped in the mansion?

About the Author - Tamika Jones

Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.

The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
