Production Starts on New Supernatural Thriller Series SAVEHAVEN, Created by & Based on James Seale's Graphic Novel: "New York, NY – June 30, 2022 – Strong Studios, Inc. (“Strong Studios”), a subsidiary of Ballantyne Strong, Inc.’s (“Ballantyne” or the “Company”; NYSE American: BTN) Strong Entertainment segment, and The Cartel announced today the start of production on Monday, June 20th in Winnipeg Canada on its new supernatural thriller series, Safehaven. 

Safehaven was created by James Seale (30 BelowThrottle) who will serve as showrunner with Kaare Andrews (V Wars, Aftermath, Van Helsing, Mech X-4) on board to direct. The 10 episode series is set to star newcomers Georgie Murphy (Christmas by the Book) and Gino Anania (Skymed, The Porter, Kiss Before Christmas), along with the multi-award-winning Bob Frazer (Drinkwater, The Cannon, Finding Mr. Right, Girlfriend Experience, The X-Files).

Safehaven tells the story of high school comic artist Jenna Frost (Murphy), who must uncover the truth after horrifying visions come to life from her creations, threatening to destroy everything around her. John Rayburn (Frazer) is the mysterious new school counselor determined to save her, even if it endangers both of their lives and unearths his own personal demons. Complicating matters is Will (Anania), a passionate young man committed to protecting Jenna, who finds herself torn between rejecting his help and her growing feelings for him.

Safehaven is produced by Strong Studios, The Cartel (Creepshow, Day of the Dead) and Kevin V. Duncan (Juncture). KATHRYN NEWTON AND COLE SPROUSE TO STAR IN FOCUS FEATURES’ LISA FRANKENSTEIN WRITTEN BY ACADEMY AWARD® WINNER DIABLO CODY: 

Focus Features has cast Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA) and Cole Sprouse (Moonshot, Riverdale) to star in the upcoming feature, LISA FRANKENSTEIN directed by Zelda Williams from a script written by Academy Award® winner Diablo Cody (JUNO, TULLY). Principal photography is slated to begin later this summer. 

Cody will write and serve as a producer alongside Mason Novick who will produce via his MXN Entertainment banner. LISA FRANKENSTEIN reunites Cody and Novick who have previously collaborated on films including TULLY, YOUNG ADULT, JENNIFER’S BODY and JUNO, which Cody earned an Oscar® for Best Original Screenplay. Jeff Lampert will serve as executive producer. Focus Features’s Vice President of Production and Development, Michelle Momplaisir, will serve as the creative executive on the project.  

LISA FRANKENSTEIN marks Williams’s feature-length directorial debut.

LOGLINE: Set in 1989, an unpopular high schooler accidentally re-animates a handsome Victorian corpse during a lightning storm and starts to rebuild him into the man of her dreams using the broken tanning bed in her garage.

LET'S NEVER MEET: "With over 50 million downloads and over thousands of stories from all over the world, one of the top true-horror podcasts ‘Let’s Not Meet’ has joined forces with the award-winning Goodale Films to create a live-action limited episodic series called, ‘Let’s Never Meet’.
