This is a really interesting bit of casting news. The latest addition to the cast of American Horror Story Season 2 is James Cromwell.

The actor (pictured below), who received an Oscar nomination for Babe and has appeared in dozens of roles since, is said to be playing the part of Dr. Arden. The character works at the institution where season 2 takes place and will "go head-to-head with his boss [Jessica Lange]."  This isn't a cameo role either, with it being reported by Deadline that he'll appear in a 10-episode arc.

In other American Horror Story Season 2 casting news, Chloe Sevigny is now officially on board as Shelly the Nymphomaniac. She’ll be appearing with new cast members Lizzie Brocheré and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine, along with returning actors Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Even Peters, and Lily Rabe.

As reported earlier this year, all returning actors will be playing completely new characters. Season 2 features a new story set in an East Coast institution for the criminally insane run by Jessica Lange’s character, and is said to take place in a different time period than the first season. American Horror Story Season 2 begins shooting this summer and will premiere in October.
