Warner Bros. has announced the North American release of Lollipop Chainsaw for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We have the official press release and previous coverage links, along with photos and a write-up from the Lollipop Chainsaw release party:

"BURBANK, Calif., Jun 12, 2012 -- Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and KADOKAWA GAMES today announced the release of Lollipop Chainsaw, an over-the-top action game for the PlayStation(R)3 system and the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

Developed by GRASSHOPPER MANUFACTURE, led by Goichi Suda (SUDA51), Lollipop Chainsaw is the 'un-deadly' story of sweet, chainsaw-wielding zombie hunter Juliet Starling. On her 18th birthday, Juliet must uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak. She slices and dices her way through hordes of the undead, but soon realizes the horde is only the opening act to a festival of zombie rock lords determined to kill her.

With an all-star cast behind it, Lollipop Chainsaw is brimming with talent from Hollywood director/writer James Gunn (Super, Slither, Dawn of the Dead, Tromeo and Juliet) and a voice cast featuring the likes of Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville), Michael Rooker (Slither, The Walking Dead), Tara Strong (batman:Arkham City), Shawnee Smith (Saw), Linda Cardelleni (Freaks and Geeks) and many more. The final ingredient in this mix of grindhouse style and humor is the collaborative music by acclaimed video game composer Akira Yamaoka and Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence."

Lollipop Chainsaw Release Party Report: It's Monday night in West Hollywood and hundreds of people are in line, with some even dressed a zombies. It is not Halloween, but the Lollipop Chainsaw video game release party in Santa Monica. With a line stretching outside of the door and nearly wrapping around the block, more then two hundred fans of James Gunn (Slither), Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville), Tara Strong (Fairly Oddparents), Jessica Nigri (Juliet Starling) and Sean Gunn (Super) are anxiously awaiting their turn to meet and greet with their favorite actors.

At approximately 9P.M. the doors open and the fans are welcome to a free poster that they can have signed along with their own personal merchandise followed by a free Lollipop Chainsaw T-shirt, keychain and lollipop. Nearly an hour and a half passes and the line of fans has finally dwindled down to a few stragglers. Standing up and stretching, James Gunn calls for all the individuals in costume to come forward for the costume contest!

The costumes were impressive and ranged from a normal cheerleader, to a cheerleader wielding a chainsaw in honor of Lollipop chainsaw and finally, a vacationing couple from the south on his honeymoon with his sister-wife who were maliciously attacked by a herd of flesh eating zombies. One by one the individuals are called out until they have their finalists selected. With the help of the crowd they select their winners by applause, and the winners are the vacationing couple and the cheerleader wielding the chainsaw. Their winnings you may ask? Their choice of an Xbox360 or a PS3.

After the contest we were given the chance to test play the game before it was released as the time ticked away till midnight. By the time the clock struck 12 most of the celebrity guests had left, but for those fans that stuck around they were given the chance to have James Gunn and Jessica Nigri sign their video games before heading home for a night of wielding their own chainsaw to thwart the zombie apocalypse as Juliet. Also, with Michael Rosenbaums severed head attached to her hip making funny quips and one liners, it helps keep the action and comedy coming until the alarm clock that you forgot about turns on snapping you back into reality and realizing you have to work in an hour.

Overall, the event was a blast. The cast was amazingly kind to the fans who showed up hours prior to the event and they were generously rewarded with gifts and kindness. Warner Brothers put on a great show here which included the Lollipop Chainsaw zombie bus that played music and allowed fans to go aboard and try their hand at killing those pesky teenage zombies.
