Happy March, readers! Hard to believe another month is upon us, but that just means we have more new horror movies to look forward to in the coming weeks on various digital and VOD platforms. The month kicks off with both Ted Geoghegan’s Mohawk and Midnighters from IFC Midnight on March 2nd, and then just a few days later, a handful of titles are launching digitally, including The Dark Crystal (which is a new transfer of the cult fantasy film), Curse of the Mayans, The Crossbreed, Eat Me, The Terrible Two and Flay.

On March 13th, we have a terror-fueled trio to look forward to—Prodigy, Hell’s Kitty, and Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies —and just a week later both Insidious: The Last Key and Welcome the Stranger come home as well. March’s digital releases wrap up with I Kill Giants, Followers, and Pyewacket (which is incredible) on the 23rd and then The Executioners from Lionsgate on the 27th.

The Lullaby (Uncork’d Entertainment) – March 2nd

Chloe is overwhelmed by the birth of her first child. The incessant crying of her baby, the growing sense of guilt and paranoia sends her into depression. With a heightened urge to protect her son, Chloe sees danger in every situation. She starts to hear voices, the humming of a childhood lullaby and sees flashes of a strange entity around her child. Convinced that the entity is real, Chloe will do everything in her power to protect her son. Is she haunted by evil or is it just the baby blues?

Midnighters (IFC Midnight) – March 2nd

A New Year’s night becomes a long day’s journey into dread for one seriously unlucky couple in this wild-ride nerve-twister. On their way home from ringing in midnight on December 31, Lindsey (Alex Essoe) and Jeff (Dylan McTee) accidentally run down a man in the middle of the road. Things look bad when they panic and stash the body in the backseat. Things look worse when they discover that the stranger they hit had sinister intentions involving the couple and their family. And things go off the rails when a certain psychotic “Detective Smith” (Ward Horton) comes calling … The scarily gripping feature debut from The Walking Dead and Krypton director Julius Ramsay careens with hairpin twists and genre-defying surprises.

Mohawk (Dark Sky Films) – March 2nd

After one of her tribe sets an American camp ablaze, a young Mohawk warrior finds herself pursued by a contingent of military renegades set on revenge. Fleeing deep into the woods they call home, Oak and Calvin, along with their British companion Joshua, must now fight back against the bloodthirsty Colonel Holt and his soldiers - using every resource both real and supernatural that the winding forest can offer.

The Crossbreed (Breaking Glass Pictures) – March 6th

A long time ago in a small village, a young woman had nightmares of a demon. One night, she felt evil encompass her, and woke up screaming. The next morning, she was pregnant. Unable to hide the pregnancy, she was locked away by her father, but the evil could not be contained and was birthed into the village. In a rage, the villagers stoned the woman to death and sealed their fate as the demon exacted bloody revenge on them all, except two sisters tasked with taking care of the baby.

Now, another young woman is secretly pregnant and considering an abortion. While she thinks through her choices, Amy and her husband are sent to a village to research a story about demonic possession. Little does Amy know, she is just a pawn in birthing ultimate evil into the world…

Curse of the Mayans (VMI Worldwide) – March 6th

For eons, the Mayans prophesized that on December 21, 2012 – the end-date of the 5,126-year cycle of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar– there would be a cataclysmic, earth-shattering event.  As it turned out, 2012 wasn’t the end, but the beginning in CURSE OF THE MAYANS, a chilling sci-fi thriller set in the dark jungles and unexplored cenotes of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. 

In present day, American professor Dr. Alan Green (Wilcox) discovers a manuscript that may hold the keys to the lost Mayan culture.  After traveling to Mexico, he hires an expert team of cave divers, led by Danielle Noble (Ortiz), to explore a submerged labyrinth of ruins left behind by the ancient civilization before their mysterious disappearance.  But when the team unwittingly stumbles upon an underwater prison and unintentionally frees the evil alien beings trapped within, they are forced to fight for their survival and prevent the extraterrestrial apocalypse predicted by the Mayans long ago.

The Dark Crystal (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) – March 6th

In another time, The Dark Crystal was the Balance and Truth in the Universe but was destroyed dividing the world into two factions: the wicked Skeksis and the peaceful Mystics. Now as the convergence of the three suns approaches the Crystal must be healed or darkness will reign forever. It is up to Jen, the last of his race, to carry out the prophecy that a Gelfing will return the missing shard of crystal and destroy the Skeksis’ evil Empire. But will Jen be up to the challenge of battling the unknown?

Directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz with producer Gary Kurtz (Stars Wars, The Empire Strikes Back), The Dark Crystal is a fantasy masterpiece weaving a timeless myth of Good and Evil.

Eat Me (Blue Fox Entertainment) – March 6th

Eat Me is acclaimed playwright Jacqueline Wright’s big screen adaptation of her award-winning play of the same name, directed by Adrian A. Cruz (co-creator SyFy's “Ascension”). Wright also stars alongside Brad Carter (True Detective, Ascension) and Michael Samus Wiles (Breaking Bad, FIGHT CLUB) in this wild film that takes place over the course of one torturous night, after woman in the process of committing suicide by swallowing handfuls of pills is woken up and "saved" by two violent home intruders.

Flay (Distirbber) – March 6th

After the death of her mother, an estranged daughter struggles to save her brother, and those around her from a malevolent faceless spirit.

The Terrible Two (Uncork’d Entertainment) – March 6th

Albert and Rose Poe bought their dream house seven years ago in Greenfield, NC.  They had no idea of the unspeakable horrors that took place in the house before they moved in.  If they had known, then their children, Addi and Jade would still be alive.  Instead the Poe’s now find themselves imprisoned in the house they thought was their safe place, and battling their two daughters for survival.

Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies (Gravitas Ventures) – March 13th

In Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies, the kudzu covered hills of Charleston, Mississippi, notable as Morgan Freeman's hometown, are ground zero for GloboBioTech testing of their experimental herbicide Quadoxin, which goes horribly wrong. Lonnie, a crop duster pilot, must lead a mismatched group of survivors to escape the deadly zombie horde after the Quadoxin transforms the citizens of the small town into zombies.

Hell’s Kitty (Wild Eye Releasing) – March 13th

Based on the web series and comic book of the same name, and inspired by writer-director Nicholas Tana’s experiences living with a professedly possessed cat, Hell’s Kitty tells of a covetous feline that acts possessed and possessive of her owner around women. The results are as funny as they are frightening!

Nick, a Hollywood screenwriter, discovers his cat has become murderously possessed, and will stop at nothing to rid him of any women in his life. As his life unravels out of control, Nick must find a way to have his kitty exorcised of the demonic spirit haunting her and creating a body count. 

Prodigy (Gravitas Ventures) – March 13th

A secret branch of the military calls upon psychologist James Fonda to take the case of a dangerous patient, nine-year-old Ellie. As their session begins, the young girl dissects Dr. Fonda's unconventional methods, revealing her genius-level intellect. Only by challenging her to a battle of wits does Fonda begin to unravel the supernatural mystery surrounding Ellie -- a deadly secret that threatens to destroy them both.

Apartment 212 (Gravitas Ventures) – March 16th

 Jennifer Conrad is a small-town girl starting over in the big city. Fleeing an abusive relationship, all she wants is a chance to begin again. But it is hard to start over when something is eating you while you sleep…one painful bite at a time.

Demon House (Freestyle Digital Media) – March 16th

As mass hysteria breaks-out over an alleged demonic possession in an Indiana home, referred to as a “Portal to Hell,” "Ghost Adventures" host and paranormal investigator Zak Bagans buys the house, sight unseen, over the phone. He and his crew then become the next victims of the most documented case of demonic possession in US history...the “house of 200 demons.”

Insidious: The Last Key (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) – March 20th

 The creative minds behind the hit Insidious franchise bring you the most horrifying chapter of the series, INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY.  In this gripping Blumhouse film, Lin Shaye reprises her role as parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier, who returns to her family home to face the unrelenting demons that have plagued her since childhood.  Accompanied by her two investigative partners, Specs and Tucker, Elise must delve deeper into the Further to unlock the mystery and destroy her greatest fear.

Welcome The Stranger (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) – March 20th

Alice arrives unannounced at her estranged brother Ethan's house in an attempt to reconcile, but bizarre visions, the return of his strange girlfriend, and Alice's paranoia and suspicion force the siblings to cling onto reality amidst mysterious circumstances.

Followers (Cinedigm) – March 23rd

A social media celebrity couple's camping trip is ruined by a couple of filmmakers making a documentary on how easy it is to track someone down off social media and kill them.

I Kill Giants (RLJE Entertainment) – March 23rd

Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe) is a teenage girl who escapes the realities of school and a troubled family life by retreating into her magical world of fighting evil giants. With the help of her new friend Sophia (Sydney Wade) and her school counselor (Zoe Saldana), Barbara learns to face her fears and battle the giants that threaten her world.

Pyewacket (IFC Midnight) – March 23rd

When you’re dealing with demons, be careful what you wish for… In this ultra-unsettling occult nightmare, teenage Leah (Nicole Muñoz) finds solace from the recent death of her father—and from her strained relationship with her mother (Laurie Holden)—by dabbling in the dark arts. It all seems like harmless fun at first, until a blowout argument leads Leah to do the unthinkable: put a death curse on her mother. No sooner has the girl performed the ritual than she regrets it. But it may be too late, as an evil presence known as Pyewacket begins to make itself known—and threatens to destroy both mother and daughter. The Executioners (Lionsgate) – March 27th

When four friends go on a retreat to a secluded lakeside cabin, they soon realize they’re not alone. Masked intruders try to take them hostage, but as they fight back, the friends get a taste for something more than the will to survive. Will their fate be as victim or executioner?
