Earlier this week, a LinkedIn resume listed cinematic work being done on Alan Wake 2, a sequel which has never officially been confirmed. We were happy to hear this, because we weren't sure if the first game's sales were strong enough to merit a sequel.
After this news broke, Remedy officially commented on the situation to Eurogamer and cleared everything up.... sort of:
"Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC... It's something that'll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this instalment will also give an opportunity for players who aren't familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board"
So, it isn't officially a sequel, but it isn't DLC either. Our guess is that we'll get a season worth of episodes that continue to tell the story or you're going to take on the role of another character during the events of the first Alan Wake. At least we won't have to wait a while before we see and play the game for ourselves. It is expected to be released later this year and we're still hoping for a showing during E3 this summer.
