The galactic hunter's return to the big screen will now take place in the summer instead of the winter, as 20th Century Fox has pushed back the release date of Shane Black's The Predator to August of 2018.
According to multiple sources, including Box Office Mojo, The Predator is scheduled to come out in theaters on August 3rd, 2018, pushing it back several months from its previous February 9th, 2018 release.
The cast of The Predator includes Alfie Allen, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Sterling K. Brown, and Olivia Munn.
Black (who co-starred as the wisecracking Rick Hawkins in John McTiernan's Predator) is directing The Predator from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fred Dekker (director of Night of the Creeps and The Monster Squad, the latter a film that he also co-wrote with Black).
Expected to be rated "R," The Predator is currently filming in Vancouver, and while an official synopsis has yet to be revealed, we'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more information is announced.
If you're worried that The Predator might not have enough practical effects, Black recently tweeted something that should set you at ease:
I am standing on set next to a 7-foot tall gentleman in a Predator suit -- so no, it is not all CGI.
