It’s been five years since moviegoers last visited Camp Crystal Lake in theaters and many have been waiting to return to their favorite waterside haunt ever since. Paramount recently hinted that the next Friday the 13th movie could be shot in 3D, and rumors of it being filmed found footage style have also circulated for some time, but new details from Platinum Dunes shed a little more light on what film format we’ll see Jason Voorhees in next.
In a recent interview with Bloody Disgusting, Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller discussed what stage of development the new Friday the 13th movie is in. Addressing rumors that the film will be shot found footage style or in 3D, Fuller insisted that a final decision on the movie’s format won’t be made until a script has been approved. He revealed that some writers are currently penning the project, but no script has been officially approved for further development at this time. One thing that Fuller did confirm is director David Bruckner's (V/H/S, The Signal) continued involvement.
Not along ago, Paramount delayed the release of the next installment of Friday the 13th from March 13th, 2015 to November 13th, 2015, with Scouts vs. Zombies filling in the abandoned March slot. We’ll keep Daily Dead readers updated on the new Friday the 13th film as it develops.
