The Goosebumps feature film is quickly picking up steam, especially with Jack Black having signed on for the lead role. Now, a new casting report provides the first real plot details. According to The Wrap, the movie centers around Mr. Shivers, "a Stine-like author whose scary characters literally leap off the page, forcing him to hide from his own creepy creations."

Jack Black will play Mr. Shivers, while it's being reported that Odeya Rush will take on the role of his niece, "who teams up with her young male neighbor to battle the monsters unleashed from Mr. Shivers’ works."

*Update: It has been revealed Dylan Minnette (Prisoners) has landed the role Zach Cooper, the young neighbor who live next door to Mr. Shivers. We've included photos of the three lead actors below.

While this movie won't be an adaptation of a specific Goosebumps story, we expect that a number of Goosebumps favorites will be among the monsters we see. The movie will be directed by Rob Letterman (Gulliver's Travels, Shark Tale) and, although a number of writers have been hired over the years, we last heard that Darren Lemke (Jack the Giant Slayer, Turbo) had worked on the screenplay. Of course, we'll keep Daily Dead readers posted on any major updates related to this project.
