With World War Z having earned more than $500 million worldwide at the box office, its no surprise to hear that Paramount is moving forward with a sequel. It was previously revealed that Marc Forster would not return for the sequel, but we know who Paramount has hired.

According to THR, the new movie will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, who horror fans should remember from his work on The Orphanage. Bayona most recently directed The Impossible with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, so he has a good mix of horror and disaster movie experience needed for this type of movie.

At this point, very little is known about the story. A writer has not been hired, but it's been said that Juan Antonio Bayona will help oversee the writing process. Many fans of Max Brooks’ novel were not happy to see the movie deviate so much from the original material, so we could potentially see a sequel incorporate more elements from the book this time around. While it’s still too early to know who else will be back for the sequel, it’s a given that Brad Pitt will be involved as the star and a producer once again.
