Even though we first reported on Elysium in late 2010 and filming has been completed, the official plot remained a mystery. Now, it appears that the plot synopsis has made it's way online. The following synopsis comes from a preview screening ticket that was picked up by Collider:

"In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard the government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds."

Elysium is the next film from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp and stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Diego Luna, Alice Braga, and William Fichtner. We haven't had an update on this film in quite some time, but expect to see much more of this film between now and its release date on March 1st, 2013. This has not officially been confirmed, but we'll provide an update to this story if more information comes our way.
