Production is currently underway on Paul W.S. Anderson's film adaptation of Capcom's Monster Hunter video game franchise, and a release date has just been set. According to Deadline, Sony / Screen Gems will release the movie to theaters on September 4th, 2020.

Monster Hunter features Milla Jovovich as Lt. Artemis, with Tony Jaa playing "The Hunter." Similar to her role as Alice in Anderson's Resident Evil movies, Jovovich's role is not from the video game source material, but is instead a new character in the world of Monster Hunter:

"Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back."

The Deadline story also confirms a strong supporting cast that features Tip “T.I.” Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Josh Helman, Jin Au-Yeung and Ron Perlman.
