While George A. Romero may not be moving forward with another "Dead" movie yet, we're getting his latest story in comic book form and it involves zombies, humans, and vampires in New York City. Titled Empire of the Dead, the fourth of fifteen issues was released this week and, if you haven't had a chance to check out this series, you should really give it a try. For those that want an idea of what it's all about, we have a look at the first pages from issue #4:

"IT’S ZOMBIES VS VAMPIRES—WITH HUMANS CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE—AS THE LEGENDARY GEORGE ROMERO UNLEASHES HIS NEXT UNDEAD EPIC!

Welcome to New York years after the eruption of an undead plague—a city not only teeming with zombies, but also ruled by a vampire! Who is the ultimate wild card: the undead gladiator Zanzibar...the former cop known only as X…or the southern firecracker called Dixie Peach? Plus: It’s a terrorizing team-up in variant cover form when the Zombie Godfather George Romero unites with the Zombie King Arthur Suydam!"

Empire of the Dead is written by George A. Romero, with art by Alex Maleev. The standard cover features art by Alex Maleev, while the variant cover art was created by Arthur Suydam.
