After reporting that Craig Gillespie was negotiating with Lionsgate to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies earlier this month, Deadline has confirmed that he is officially signed on to direct the film. This ends months of speculation of who the new director would be after Mike White dropped out of the project.

The adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel has had multiple false starts, but hopefully this brings an end to delays and a cast can be locked in soon. While Natalie Portman was originally looking to star in the film, she will only be producing at this point.

Craig Gillespie recently directed the upcoming Fright Night remake and has also directed episodes of United States of Tara, as well as the feature films Mr. Woodcock and Lars and the Real Girl.
