It was previously mentioned that Paul W.S. Anderson had plans for a sixth Resident Evil movie, and it looks like Sony is now ready to move forward on it. According to STYD, Sony plans to release a new Resident Evil movie on September 12th, 2014. There are no official details on the new movie at this time, but things should start to come together quickly if they are interested in putting the movie into theaters 18 months from now.

This movie franchise revolves around Milla Jovovich as Alice, so we can't imagine her not returning. Paul W.S. Anderson will likely be involved in the creative process once again, but there's no word on if he'll be directing this time around. The last two movies have been filmed in 3D, so that should be another given as well. Hopefully, Sony will be ready to release more details at Comic-Con this July, if not sooner.

Resident Evil: Retribution was released on September 14th, 2012 and starred Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Colin Salmon, Sienna Guillory, Boris Kodjoe, Oded Fehr, Shawn Roberts, Bingbing Li, Kevin Durand, and Johann Urb. The movie earned over $221 million worldwide during its theatrical release.
