We've heard it before from Bruce Campbell, but Sam Raimi has also confirmed that Ash will not appear in the remake of The Evil Dead. He also talked a bit about director Fede Alvarez and what we can expect from the remake during a recent interview.
Via MTV News: As for whether he sees the new film as honoring his original, Raimi said he doesn't approach it that way. "I don't think about it like that. I just think Fede Alvarez has really made a great horror movie," he said. "It's scary. The actors are great in it. It's really gut-wrenching, real low budget and intense."
It was previously discussed that Bruce Campbell might have a cameo in the film, but we wouldn't be surprised if they kept that a secret until the movie is released. Filming is currently taking place in New Zealand and is expected to wrap up this week. The movie has a release date of April 12th, 2013.
"Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
A core cast of young, fresh talent includes Jane Levy (Suburgatory) as Mia; Shiloh Fernandez (Deadgirl, Red Riding Hood) as David; Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers) as Eric; Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) as Olivia and Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker) as Natalie."
