After ending the world in its eighth season (titled Apocalypse), American Horror Story looks to be paying tribute to slasher movies in its ninth season, titled 1984.

American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy announced the title in a new Instagram video featuring a woman fleeing from a masked assailant with a very big knife. The aesthetics and wooded setting for the video feature a definite Friday the 13th flavor, hearkening back to slasher movies of the ’80s. Even the font style for this season's title replicates the lettering from blood-soaked slashers made in the era when Jason, Freddy, and Michael reigned supreme.

Specific plot details have yet to be revealed, but according to Entertainment Weekly, Emma Roberts and Olympic freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy will appear in the ninth season, while Evan Peters is not expected to be involved this time around. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates.
