An adaptation of one of Stephen King's most haunting stories, The Mist TV series will not emerge for another round of psychological horror on the big screen, as Spike has canceled the show after one season.

THR reveals the news of The Mist's cancelation, reporting that the The Weinstein Co./Dimension TV-produced show had dipped below 800,000 viewers by the end of its 10-episode season, which aired its cliffhanger finale on August 24th. The Spike channel itself is about to undergo a big transformation, as the Viacom-owned channel will be known as the Paramount Network starting this January.

So far there are no reports of another network or streaming service picking up The Mist for a new season, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on future developments. If you haven't watched The Mist series yet, the entire first season will be available to stream on Netflix in the US beginning October 24th. Are you sad to see The Mist come to an end? Spike’s THE MIST centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other.
