Talk of a new Evil Dead movie has been going on for so long, that it was hard for many people to believe it would see the light of day. We can now report that the first day of filming has been completed. Director/writer Fede Alvarez took to his Twitter account today to post a picture (below) and announce that filming has started: "That's a wrap on a flawless day one! 64 to go..."

The final cast list hasn't officially been announced, but based on previous reports, here are the 5 actors who will be visiting the cabin: Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore.

The Evil Dead remake is being directed by Fede Alvarez, with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell producing. Filming is taking place in New Zealand, with a scheduled release date of April 12th, 2013.

“Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”
