Eddie Izzard was the first actor to join the cast of Mockingbird Lane, the upcoming reboot of The Munsters, as Grandpa. It is now being reported that the role of Marilyn has been cast. According to Deadline, Charity Wakefield (The Raven) will be playing the only "normal" member of the family.

As we've talked about before this version of The Munsters won't be the same as the original TV series and you can tell just from Marilyn's new character description: "Lily’s beautiful niece and the only 'normal' Munster (which makes her rather abnormal). Saved from being devoured by her own mother as an infant, she lives with the Munsters but has not inherited any of their special attributes. A college student who believes in good manners and congeniality toward the new neighbors, she regularly clashes with Grandpa (Izzard), but she gets along well with Aunt Lily and Uncle Herman, as well as with her young cousin Eddie. "

The new series has been created for NBC by Bryan Fuller, with Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects) being involved as an executive producer and director of the pilot episode. Production of the pilot is expected in June, so we'll expect more casting announcements in the coming weeks.
