The reboot of Total Recall, starring Colin Farrell, has an official release date of August 3rd, 2012:
"Total Recall is a new, contemporized reimagining of the science fiction saga. The film will be directed by Len Wiseman and produced by Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe, with Ric Kidney on-board as executive producer. The short story 'We Can Remember It for You Wholesale' by Philip K. Dick served as the source for the 1990 Motion Picture screen story by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Jon Povill and screenplay by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Gary Goldman, with the updated screenplay being written by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback and James Vanderbilt."
I'll be interested in seeing if Len Wiseman is planning an exact remake of the film's story or if he's using the story as a base to work off of. While it's unlikely, I'd also like to see them go for the hard-R over a cut down PG-13 version. No one really likes to hear about a remake of one of their favorite films, but in this case, it's hard to imagine a remake taking away from what made the original so great. You can't top the crazy Arnold faces or puppet Kuato.
